Dream with interpretation

This night I dreamed I was a droid. I was white like polystyrene foam and had colorful fiber-optic connections in my back. But I was turned off, put in a box and discarded.

The dream represents how we are treated as objects by ourselves and people around us, not being fully heard, rewarded and punished depending on notions of what is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ when expressing ourselves and our emotions.

Scheduled day

Even if I stayed in bed until afternoon, I decided to follow the schedule as if I had the whole day left, doing each planned thing perhaps four times shorter. Yoga, shower, dressing, breakfast, walk outdoors, art, coding. At each decision point, I ask myself; What would be the hardest thing to do right now? And then I choose whatever comes up.

JSUsCH²R

I wrote some working code today! Wohoo! It’s purpose is to serve as a simple reminder of what to do at what time. In its current state it displays a unicode character in the browser at http://localhost:3000/ depending on what time of the day it is. Here’s the code, it’s javascript for nodejs. It is a modification of the standard ‘hello world’:

const http = require('http');

const hostname = '127.0.0.1';
const port = 3000;

const server = http.createServer((req, res) => {
  res.statusCode = 200;
  res.setHeader("Content-Type", "text/plain; charset=utf-8");
  var schedule = ["😴","😴","😴","😴","😴","😴", // hours 00-06
                  "🧘","🍵","🎨","👔","🎮","🎶", // hours 06-12
                  "🍲","📷","👔","💻","📝","🥗", // hours 12-18
                  "🚶","💪","🤗","📖","😴","😴"];// hours 18-24
  var date = new Date();
  var current_hour = date.getHours();
  res.end(schedule[current_hour]);
});

server.listen(port, hostname, () => {
  console.log(`Server running at http://${hostname}:${port}/`);
});

I published the code on my project page https://bkh.me/code at https://bkh.me/code-jsusch2r/. You need nodejs installed to make your computer run it. And you probably want to modify the characters to your own liking!
